I use Gmail and Outlook 2016. For my calendar, I use outlook.com and send invites via Gmail (which sacrifices tracking features). The key issue I've had is that invites sent to others via Gmail were being offset by -8 hours (while invites sent via an Outlook email address were not). Through trial and error, I found a resolution and hope you might share this info with others in case it will be helpful, possibly with a technical explanation.

Outlook 2016: File > Options > Calendar > Calendar Options > uncheck "When sending meeting requests outside of your organization, use the iCalendar format"

Thanks!
