Terry Fenner Testmimonial Continued

On August 1st, I bought an Asus Windows 11 laptop to replace an ailing HP laptop.  I’m a 76-year-old woman with memory issues, so rather than transfer the data, set up the programs, etc., I decided to take the old and new computers to a well-known, national support company and ask them to “make the change happen”.

They did a good job, but it appeared I had lost the many folders I had set up in Office Outlook that contained the history for our small business.  I took it back to the support facility and they were able to locate the folders but when I tried at home, I couldn’t find the folders in question.  So, after much late-night Googling looking for an Outlook expert, I found Lisa Hendrickson’s website, Call That Girl.  I was able to set up an appointment the next day.  She is a gift from the Gods!

She was able to fix my issues in 30 minutes!  I had originally installed my two email accounts incorrectly on my old computer – she fixed that on the new laptop!  She moved my “found” folders to a more accessible location within Outlook where they wouldn’t disappear on me.  I was so happy – I thought my troubles were behind me.  Then a few days later, my new Asus crashed, not to be revived again.  Per the earlier advice of the support facility (who anticipated that it might crash sooner rather than later), I took the Asus to them. They were able to access the hard drive, through the bottom of the laptop, and back it up on an external hard drive.  I returned the Asus to the big box store from whence it came and bought a new HP laptop online.  I took it to the support facility with my backup and they were able to transfer the data.  I had been using Office 2016 on my old computer but it was about to run out of support so I purchased Office 2021 Home & Student and asked them to install it instead.

I took my new HP home and tried to use Outlook.  I couldn’t do so.  I set up an appointment with Lisa, fully expecting another 30-minute miracle.  What I got from Lisa was determination, expertise, and a willingness to try everything.  She never gave up!  I am still in awe of what she accomplished, but I get ahead of myself.

After trying everything she could think of to activate Outlook, she discovered that the Office 2021 I had purchased from HP.com didn’t include Outlook.  I did have, through our company, some unused Office 365 licenses.  Lisa claimed one of the licenses and got to work.  After THREE DAYS of hard labor, she was successful!  She started by deleting both Office 2016 and Office 2021.  I lost count of how many times and how many ways she tried to delete them before she succeeded.

On my “old” HP, I had two email accounts and an iCloud calendar.  I also synced the accounts and calendar with my iPad Air 2 and iPhone SE (3rd Gen).  I wanted the same setup on my new laptop but there was a problem.  Sometime in the past few years, I managed to accidentally change my iCloud user name to the one I use for one of my email accounts.  I had contacted Apple when I realized my error but their records showed the correct user name on their end and were unwilling to work with me on a problem they didn’t perceive.  It wasn’t important back then; everything was working fine.  But it became important when Lisa had to set up iCloud account in Outlook to sync my devices.  I don’t remember how she was able to do it but she was able to make the change.  As I remember, she called me on the third day with the final step in the solution.  She had mulled over the problem she had encountered all night and thought she had the answer.  I was discouraged and didn’t think the problem was going to be solved.  She started a procedure she had performed several times the day before and talked to me while she was doing the keystrokes.  I was telling her it was time to quit trying; I’d take what she had set up and make it work and be very grateful for how much she had accomplished.  I watched the process get to the point where it failed every time, and it didn’t!  I was ecstatic!

Thus ends another success story for Lisa.  I am extremely grateful for her determination, her “can-do” attitude and all the expertise she pulled together.  And she’s a lovely person!  I miss her.
