Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned

One of the most ridiculous of all Microsoft error’s on earth. If you are seeing this, be prepared for a battle. Hopefully, this blog will help and I’ll punch out a few tips. I’m happy to help if you need me to remote in. You can schedule time here http://bit.ly/1C2IoEO

From the two times I have seen this problem, one client could not get it fixed. The computer was 11 years old and worth getting a new one. The second client, just bought this computer and I helped them set it up months ago. Out of the blue…the error popped up. I do know that this has to do with modern authentication. Microsoft told me that any domains setup after October 2019 on a new Microsoft account, will have modern auth pushed out and you don’t know what’s coming when you get hit. Many technicians don’t know how to fix this bugger either. My tips below might not even work lol, but worth a shot.

Log into your Office.com account, this is hopefully only for business accounts.

Then type this in your browser aka.ms/mfasetup

Then you will see the graphic below. Change the option to what you see I have in my settings. This will not change your MFA, it will just remove the problem with the error. Then you have to maybe setup a new value in the registry DWORD 32: DisableADALatopWAMOverride.

Confused yet? I spent 45 min with the Microsoft tech and I am a very experienced tech, so you should expect way more time on this call if you need to call them.
