Client lost a few folders and many emails were also missing. Finding lost data is one of my favorite jobs I work on, mostly because I am pretty darn good at finding them. Guess where his lost data was?

Right in the good old inbox. I had to first find them and then created the folders again and he will move them all back. Search is your friend!

?? WIN WIN ?? Client was using Outlook and got a security certificate error in Outlook and he was using POP not IMAP. These errors are typical with IMAP but POP…nope. So I did the usuals, Windows updates, Office updates and checked settings, all seemed fine. Then I decided to look…

 

In the incoming and outgoing port settings, yep…all setup wrong. I set to default and it worked great!

?? WIN WIN ?? I’m so happy this client called me before destruction happened. This one had an IT guy for 2 days try to setup his email and could not get it working. The IT guy didn’t even send him a bill for it because he didn’t’ get it working. Pathetic! Guess what I did to get it working?

Set it up correctly! Nothing special. If you don’t know how to setup Outlook, you need to learn or refer it out. I have a referral plan available.

How to Run Windows Updates

?? WIN WIN ?? My god this was my champion moment of the week. I killed it for this guy. He had 4 exchange accounts in his Outlook. No biggie right? Well he came back from lunch and the computer was spinning into Updates. UGH. After that, his accounts were gone and he couldn’t get them back up and running. Called me. Guess what I did first?

Finished the updates. Accounts setup straight away. Then I showed him how to run the rest of the updates. Setup the other Exchange accounts. Then had him remove the garbage can of anti-virus McAfee. All done in 30 minutes!
