HP Officejet Pro 9120e series will only scan to New Outlook

Oof this was a fun job to figure out! Client called and said her new HP printer would only scan to New Outlook. I figured something was up so I did all my troubleshooting, and after not finding any options to change to old or classic Outlook, we called HP. I got two different people who frankly didn’t know what was going on. I decided to train my client on how to use the Windows Fax and Scan in her computer and it scanned perfect and used the “forward to email” option that opened her classic Outlook.

This is all I have for you, if you know of a workaround, please let me know, otherwise below are the notes to get around it. If this is a dealbreaker for you, you can use New Outlook, call HP and complain to see if they found a patch for this (the patch they offered us, did NOT work btw), or return it and get another printer that does print to old or classic Outlook.

How to find and use the Windows Fax and Scan app:

• Go to your search at the bottom of your task bar and search “Scan”
• You should see a pop up for “Windows Fax and Scan”
• Launch the app and then if you plan on using it often, in the task bar right click on it and pin to task bar.
• Then scan and the image will show up, you can click on it and then click on the  “forward to email” button.
