Outlook Tips and Tricks

I am an outlook expert, I do this kind of stuff every day.  Use this link to my on-boarding checklist so you can learn more about your system.  These tips will make your computer perform better and able to be recovered if anything bad happens to it!

Sorry this isn’t in more detail, but I consider these tips to be vital and incredibly important!

  1. Be sure you’re logged into your Microsoft Office account
  2. Be sure you’ve done all of your windows updates
    1. Be sure to check for updates
    2. They are not automatic anymore – must click “Check for Updates”
  3. Be sure your Outlook IMAP and exchange accounts are backed up with an online program, they are not typically backed up and they need to be
  4. Be sure you’re logged into one drive, otherwise your computer will run slower because it’s trying to synchronize and it can’t without being logged in
  5. Having too many emails in your inbox, sent, and deleted can cause your outlook to slow down. I recommend moving them to a local pst file so that they are still searchable

Problems with viewing a shared calendar in Outlook

?? WIN WIN ?? Client called in, problems with viewing a shared calendar. Tried a few changes and tricks, nothing was working. I had to do something that I really don’t like to do but it worked…guess what that was?

New profile fixed it. Profiles can go bad and in this case, it was really bad. Let it setup and it’s working great again!

How to Copy Emails From an iPhone to a PC

Well folks, these instructions I found on the internet but I can’t give credit as I closed the window. They didn’t 100% work but I updated with my notes. If you’re looking to move email from your iPhone to the computer, you probably have a glitch on your phone like a server is down or you accidentally deleted an account. Whatever the reason, these steps should work. You do need another email account on the phone to move the email to, so Gmail or Outlook.com should work fine and free.

  • You need to be in the Inbox emails or folder emails to start this process
  • Tap Edit in the mailbox you want to move email from (top right area is “Edit”)
  • Tap the checkbox to the left of the message you want to move, or select many if you want to move more. It will turn Blue when checked
  • Now tap the “Move” button at the bottom, your window will change and you will see “Accounts” at the top left
  • Click “Accounts” and select the new account you setup
  • Then select the folder (Inbox is typical) and the email will show it’s moved there.
  • Check online, be sure you see the email you moved. Continue on!
  • Open new email account in Outlook and transfer in Outlook

If you need my help with rescuing other emails or data from your phone or computer, schedule time on my calendar link below. Thanks!

Outlook 2019 search not working

Outlook 2019 search not working

If you are still looking for a fix, this is pretty simple and I’ll be techie about it. I have a new trick to try if Outlook is not searching. Simple

Uncheck Outlook in the Modify settings of the indexing in control panel.

Outlook search usually begins immediately. If not. Wait.

If this doesn’t fix your issue, then you can schedule time on my calendar. The next fixes are not fast and takes a long time to fix, but we’ll get it!
