New Outlook Error: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.QuotaExceededException

| October 4, 2025

Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.QuotaExceededException: Microsoft Unified Storage is full. This message could not be sent. The client operation failed. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator.

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Too long/didn’t read: The above content is all with this error: The account for Microsoft needs to be upgraded to get more space, the $99 plan will do it.

Storytime: This was in an email from a client who got a bounce back email from Microsoft, using Outlook.com in her Outlook Classic desktop application. Here is what happened and how I fixed it.

Client has just setup Outlook.com. I had migrated all her email to this account from her comcast.net account. All was good until her computer rebooted and Outlook Classic was not pinned on the task bar anymore and New Outlook replaced it. She tried to open New Outlook and it would not set up her Outlook.com account. She called me back and I got her Outlook Classic back up and running but this error still showed up when I tried to send a test message. I logged in online to her outlook.com account and found this error “Your account has been locked“.

I have seen this error before with new Outlook.com accounts, so it was not new to me. Outlook.com will do this on occasion. I got her unlocked and logged back into her online account. Then we found out her account was out of space and needed a personal Microsoft 365 subscription to get more space. After she paid that, it took about 20 min or so and her email was back up and running and we could launch New Outlook just fine.

So she had a two problems actually. If you are having issues, please send me a message using the form below or schedule an appointment.

Microsoft Teams is Missing Teams in Desktop Application

Microsoft Teams is Missing Teams in Desktop Application

Helped a client with this today. Logged in her computer and saw her 25+ teams missing, only two listed. I did the usual troubleshooting.

Reviewed control panel, uninstalled all old Teams

Logged in online, downloaded Teams for desktop again

Launched, still missing.

Signed out of the account and launched again, and it didn’t ask for login info/security.

Teams showed up! Victory!

That’s all I did, no need to delete cache and all that.

New Outlook Accounts are grayed out cannot remove

New Outlook Accounts are grayed out cannot remove

Long title, big problem! I have now seen this twice. This error usually is found when you add email accounts and the inbox is flickering gray lines. Same resolution.

Here is what I did, should work for you:

  • I tried to remove the account, it was gray also, could not remove.
  • My next step was to set up Outlook Classic, and added only one account.
  • Then I hit the blue toggle at the top right to switch back to New Outlook.
  • Launched New Outlook, then the email downloaded and I could remove accounts again, but I didn’t need to, they worked out.

Fun trick huh?

New Outlook Cannot Add a New Email Without a Microsoft License

New Outlook Cannot Add a New Email Without a Microsoft License

This is a new issue I am seeing lately. Today I was helping a client set up his New Outlook email. He set up an Outlook.com first, then his other Outlook.com email. But when we tried to add his Business 365 account, it would not set up due to “no license available” error. Unfortunately I didn’t get the exact error screenshotted but it was similar to what I just stated.

He was using Microsoft 2016, which only comes with the Outlook Classic. And the product is a download, installed on the computer. So for him to add that 365 account, he would need to subscribe to 365 apparently.

He did not want to do that as he had software that would not work with 365, so we set up Outlook Classic.
