Something went wrong [2002] Outlook error

| September 26, 2023

something went wrong [2002]

Quite possibly one of the worst Microsoft errors I have yet to see and could not repair and I’m very good at repairing Outlook errors. I’m telling you this story in case you went down the rabbit hole of the something went wrong [2002] error.

This error popped up in Outlook when a client started work, guessing an update caused this. He was using MS Exchange and didn’t have any other emails connected in that Outlook profile. Since I know all the hacks, reg fixes, tricks of Outlook, I literally spent almost 2 hours trying to fix it. I used all the knowledge I have in my 17 years of fixing Outlook; registry fixes, tech blogs, Microsoft tech articles and finally a call to Microsoft and they could not fix it, we had to give up. I decided to call it and the client agreed, this profile was corrupted beyond repair.

I created him a new Windows profile, not connected to a Microsoft account. Launched Outlook and his email connected in no time. After that, I had to set up his Teams and OneDrive and that worked quickly, this took about 20 min total. I’m not saying this will fix your issue, but this is what I know helped my client get back to work. And no, I didn’t charge him my full rate on this request, it was a serious R&D. I know for the future what to do and what not to do.

Update Aug 23, 2024

This post is not even a year old but it’s my #5 searched post on my website. In the next 1-5 years, the New Outlook will not have this issue but I’m sure the New Outlook will have plenty of other issues you might experience. I’m preparing for the New Outlook as Outlook is my a lot of my support requests. Keep me in mind when your time comes to update, your current Outlook configuration may require some help with calendars/contacts, notes, etc to migrate to a Microsoft Exchange server. Or you might have questions on how it works or whatever else you might encounter.

If you are on POP/IMAP now and want to talk about migrating your email/contacts/calendar to Exchange now, please use the form below to discuss your project. I can offer a quote and how much time it will take.

I can also help with the following:

  • Email delivery (DNS/SPF/DMARC/DKIM)
  • Outlook contacts clean up
  • New Domain setup with Microsoft 365
  • Training
  • Or look at my banner for the full list

Thank you for reading, I look forward to helping!

Large Group Microsoft 365 Training Nashville

I’m Lisa Hendrickson and offer virtual training for small to medium sized businesses who want to offer M365 training for their end users in a group meeting. As an independent Microsoft 365 Consultant and Outlook Expert, I can create custom training sessions that work for your team and your budget. If you’re transitioning from other platforms such as Google Workspace to M365, then offering my unique training will help insure that everyone in the company knows how to use the new products the way you want it trained.

Training options

I’ll start with scheduling a consult and discuss your training goals and then a few different ways I can offer training.

  • The below outline is just one option and for a large group, most common. I cover all the basics and offer Q&A (can be scheduled later after people have time to use the product)
  • For smaller companies I can customize for each group or just train one group solo. This is usually for one or two of the Microsoft products
  • Businesses with less than 10 employees typically want a custom training of 1 hour per person
  • For one person companies, you have your own hour to yourself where I can help you configure all your services, transfer data and train. This may go over an hour.

General training:

1-hour open sessions offered to let the employees get training when they can schedule it. Great for staff who work remotely.

  • Monday: Outlook
  • Tuesday: OneDrive
  • Wednesday: SharePoint
  • Thursday: Teams
  • 1-hour open session Friday for question/answer

Personal Microsoft Teams Desktop not opening in Windows 11

| July 21, 2023

Personal Microsoft Teams Desktop not opening in Windows 11

I helped a client today with issues, their personal Microsoft Teams desktop would not launch in their Windows 11 computer. I reviewed their Office products installed in the control panel and the default apps installed, removed all versions. Uninstalled their antivirus and rebooted. Then we installed a fresh copy of Office, then from their portal downloaded a new version of Teams for personal. The typical install did not run, instead I noticed it just blip and then it was listed in the default apps installed list. I could not find the launcher, so I went into their appdata folder and found the launcher, worked like a charm.

You can find this in your appdata\local\Microsoft\Teams\current folder. It should just say “Teams” and double click it, then pin to your task bar. If you’re having other issues and need my help, please use the contact form below.

Large Group Microsoft 365 Training

Large Group Microsoft 365 Training

If your company is looking for hands-on, instructor-led Microsoft 365 Training, I have many options for you. Below is all the information you’ll need to review and see if I’m a good fit for your training requirements, schedule and budget. I train from an end user standpoint and I train freestyle. I have an outline but usually I just go and answer questions during the training. I offer examples of why you might want to do something or need a feature, I consider my training very non cookie cutter but more personal. Ok, I throw in a few jokes, training can be boring, might as well make it more enjoyable.

Comparing my small business to larger online training companies has value, you also can work with me after the training for your consulting or helpdesk needs. Small companies appreciate this option and often don’t have an IT company, so it works out great for us both. I don’t offer contracts, most clients buy 3-hour support package to use in 15 min increments. This option can be considered supplemental support to your IT department as sometimes requests are outside their wheelhouse.

If you are migrating from Google Workspace, Network Solutions, etc to Microsoft 365, this is a great investment in your transition. Offering training allows your employees to learn about the 365 Experience in its entirety. You’re paying a premium price; your staff should know how to utilize it all.

More about my training

  • Larger online companies offer half or full day training, where I offer an accelerated power hour and with options for recording, your team can watch it later. All training sessions include a recording of the training for your team to review later.
  • I don’t charge per user but per session. You can have up to 500 attendees in a session. I charge a bit more for over 500.
  • You can chose to have a moderator from your team or you can use my mine for an extra charge. See below.
  • I have a commission plan for those that want to refer me to their clients, or I can offer a discount for MSP and other IT consultants who wish to bill their clients. See below for more information
  • For larger groups I will quote you for prep time as we will need it.
  • You can offer your own demo account using your 365 account, or I can offer my demo account.

Review below and if you find we’d be a great fit, please email me at lisa@callthatgirl.biz and request a consult or use this link to schedule a 15 min consult Let me know that you read this page and what options you want. I write simple quotes and have availability to schedule soon or months out.

Who offers live Microsoft Teams Training?

Remote Training With Lisa: Microsoft 365 Teams

You don’t want to go it alone when it comes to Microsoft Teams.

Your company has invested in this powerful tool, but without proper setup and training, it’s like you just bought a restaurant but have no idea how to cook. You can figure out how to turn on the burners, but how do you go from there to managing a functioning kitchen and serving your guests? My Teams training gets your front-of-house and back-of-house coordinated and running smoothly.

What I’ve Learned
Based on my years of working with clients, I recommend scheduling a one-hour session with the department lead in order to review your OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams configuration. Proper setup depends on your goals, and it’s critical to get this figured out before training employees.

During this initial session, I’ll prepare a list of topics to cover with each employee and then share a link to my scheduler so employees can book their own 30-minute sessions. Some people will need only a few minutes while others will want more handholding. Everyone should book a session! Sometimes people don’t know what they don’t know.

Note: If I come across technical issues with desktop synching during employee trainings, I will reach out to the department lead before starting to repair it. You will have the option to add the repair time to the invoice.

Training topics we’ll cover:

  • How to create your first team correctly
  • How to set up channels
  • How to add internal members as well as members outside your organization
  • Tabs for shortcuts and other 365 add-ins
  • How to upload data to the correct team
  • How to synch with your desktop
  • How collaboration works
  • How to ensure security
  • How to backup your Teams to the desktop
  • How to do an online 365 backup
  • How to restore data/version history

Bonus topics!

  • How to set up meetings in Teams and Outlook
  • Mobile device setup and tips
