Printer Troubleshooting 101, the Easy Stuff

| July 26, 2013 | 0 Comments

We’ve all had it happen. For whatever reason your printer has stopped working. But why now? You have an important report to get out ASAP. Well, before you take the printer to get fixed, there’s some basic printer troubleshooting you can do to speed you along. The simplest and often times best solution is a printer reboot. If after this you still need help, please schedule an appointment here.

Here are the steps:

 1.   Turn off Printer

 2.   Unplug ALL cords from back

 3.   Leave printer unplugged for 1 minute

 4.   Reboot the PC while the printer is unplugged

 5.   When the computer is back up, re-attach all the printer cords

 6.   Plugin printer

 7.   Turn on printer

  • Look for indicator lights and “ready” or “OK”
  • Is everything green/good to go? Do you see errors on the screen?
  • Test print something

 8.   If these simple steps fail, then you may be experiencing driver conflicts or other issues with the computer such as junkware (internet browser issues, Windows updates, etc)

Tried a printer reboot and still need some troubleshooting done? Call me, Lisa, today at 612-865-4475 or email me at Lisa@callthatgirl.biz!

Manual Of Operations Policies and Procedures Template

| May 18, 2013 | 0 Comments

Did you just Google “How to write an operations manual”, “operations manual template” or “How to create a manual of operations for your business?” If you’re looking for a standard operating procedures and policies manual or operations manual template, you’ve come to the right place. With a standard operating procedures manual template (SOP template) from my company, you won’t have to learn how to write a standard operating procedure manual – all you have to do is plug in your own info, and bam! You have your very own company operations manual, manual of operations and procedures or whatever you’d like to call it.

As my company started to grow in 2009, I quickly learned that I need a manual of operations to at least have some guidelines for the interns and new part time employees. The manual started off very thin, but as my company started to grow, the need for a more robust manual came into play. In November of 2010, I had 20 pages of information I needed to share with my team. Shortly after I added on 8 more employees, I needed yet more pages. Finally this past year, I had 16 employees and had enough for 40 pages. This is the edition that helped set official policies and procedures for the company.

If your company is moving to the next level of growth and is in need of a business operations manual, purchasing the template I created for my own company will save you a lot of time and energy. I have outlined the most important features of a manual, you need to just edit in your own information and make appropriate changes. You will receive the manual in a Microsoft Word document, ready to go!

Features:

  • Find/Replace, Replace “Your company” with “Your real company name” and update the entire manual in just seconds
  • Word Document, cut and paste for other publications, edit in your current policy and procedures
  • Brand your own company within document

Save yourself hours of setting up your own template!

FBI MoneyPak Virus Records Me While I Record Them. Awkward

| May 2, 2013 | 0 Comments

So I get this computer in the shop. I boot it up and look over and see myself talking. Very odd. Usually the FBI MoneyPak virus just takes a picture of you and then nothing. This one though, was doing a live session. Not only that, but it was zooming in on me….so that means only one thing. Someone was on the other side doing some videos of That Girl! I should have been posing!

This is scary though folks…it can happen to anyone. These viruses change constantly and are a pain the butt to remove sometimes, but it’s now acting like big brother. What’s next??

Tape up your webcam if not in use!
