iCloud iPhoneMany people today are having problems with iCloud, iPhone and Microsoft Outlook, don’t worry, you are not alone! I am an Outlook expert and have learned that many of my clients have many problems, but usually easily fixed with the right knowledgeable person. You need someone that knows how to set it up right the first time!

Sometimes going to the Apple store, doesn’t help. Those sales people don’t know Outlook very well, and it can be frustrating.

Calling Microsoft, can be even more frustrating.

Their first level techs usually don’t know all three technologies well enough to configure it for you over the phone or remoted in. My clients usually complain first that they called Microsoft, and then went to the Apple store, then found me online.I have patience. I understand your frustrations. Most importantly, I know all the technologies involved.

  • iCloud
  • iPhone
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Heck, throw in Gmail! I know that too.

Call me today and get on my calendar, I’ll have you fixed up in no time!

Apply Today: Email Hoarders Buried Alive

| December 10, 2014

emailIf you can admit to any of these…we need to check you into the Betty Crocker Email Rehab clinic.

  • You have over 1000 emails in your inbox, 750 are unread
  • Worse, you have over 10,000 in your inbox, don’t make me guess who many are unread!
  • (worse worse…you have Google Apps and have over 30,000 in your ALL MAIL folder WOW), it happens, call me asap if so! I’ll book you right away, you are in DANGER!!!
  • You will open an email, read it, close it. Read it later, decide to maybe move on it. Close it. Read it later, then decide it’s not worth your precious time right now, mark it “Unread” so you remember to read it later with the other 749 unread “to do” emails later on. Those unread emails are really an “email graveyard” ya know!
  • You have over 100 Folders upon folders with more “unread” to do emails.
  • Do you have them organized by “career” or “year”. I personally don’t do either, I just dump everything into one big fast PST! let’s all drink the email hoarding Kool-Aid 🙂
  • You are the rule queen! Everything has a rule and the rules work, so you are more efficient! rules that are broken, don’t work and worse. Have 100’s of unread email in those.
  • You are a spam magnet
  • AOL, enough said
  • You love your spam and you enjoy every bit of it! Unread!

it’s my job to get you to “zero inbox rule” and that means, you leave work, you have no email. Every email is organized, tasks are created and you can have a life again. Email can suck the life out of you if you don’t know how to manage it.

Next blog…Contact Hoarders, to know one is to be proud of one.

Oh yes, there are contact hoarders too and I have found, you are one or the other. No two hoarders are the same!

| December 9, 2014 | 0 Comments

mo365

We here at Call That Girl understand the important of email management for just one person and teams. Just having things work and synchronize is the dream for most people. If you have been using iCloud, iTunes, Google calendar and other 3rd party tools with Microsoft Outlook for your team and are struggling, it’s time for you to transition to Microsoft Office 365.

Let’s start with this, what is Microsoft Office 365?

  • Business-class email (Microsoft Exchange, which synchronizes everything)
  • Online conferencing (instant chatting with other teams and other companies using MO365)
  • Public website (Public SharePoint Site)
  • File sharing (SharePoint and SkyDrive)
  • Office Web Apps (For those who don’t want to buy the full Office 2013)

We can assist you and your team with this transition and implementation. Our quote for your project is all-inclusive, includes backing up your current inbox, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks. The day of the transition, we will remote in your computer and set up the current Outlook profile with the new server settings. Then we offer a training video for you to watch to learn the benefits of MO365. Want to watch the video? Click here to check it out and then call us at 612-865-4475 for a consultation.

The Joy of Windows Updates

| December 8, 2014

joyofwindowsupdatesToday’s blog is about “Microsoft Windows” basic stuff. I was just helping a client this morning that couldn’t get his 3rd party app to work because of old Windows Updates not being installed. We looked and he had over 170, 2 important, but the other 168 were optional, but critical for his application to work.

Let’s begin with some easy stuff, should you let Windows install your updates automatically? Well, if you’re like me, I work 24×7 on my computer and leave lots of open unsaved documents rolling all day. So if Windows does an update at 3:00 am (default setting usually), bye bye unsaved data. Windows doesn’t care or ask you “Would you like to save your data before I force restart the computer”.

Nope.

But you can control when Windows installs or downloads, by going to your Control Panel and changing the settings. I recommend getting them downloaded and  YOU install them, when you have your data saved, backed up and ready to go. (see picture below)

Windows Updates can glitch and might not install correctly. So be warned you might wake up at 6:00 to a messed up computer (If you let Windows do the 3:00 am automatic download and install), or if you chose to do the updates at 3:00 in the afternoon, if there is a glitch, you can at least call tech support if you can’t fix it yourself. 6:00 am is not a good time to find out you can’t work for the morning.

Now some folks refuse to do any Windows Updates, I’m not against what a client prefers, but if they hire me to fix a problem and updates are required, I have no hacking skills to get around that unfortunately and have to do updates to get the other software to work.

To close, you can

  • Opt to get them automatically,
  • Install and download when you want
  • Check for updates, but then you chose when to download and install
  • Never check, and it’s not what we recommend either
  • Hire us to help you manage your updates (to read more about our plan click here)

New Evidence Proves You Can Get Viruses From Dolphins

| December 8, 2014

dolphinYeah, kind of a cheesy post today, but I am posting it to show you that clicking on anything on the internet, can get you a virus, even a picture of a sweet dolphin. Now you see from the picture, this is a very old graphic (found on ifunny.com).

Many of us are so freaky fast scouring the internet for the funniest things to watch that we are click happy. Me too. I have to admit that I will head to Facebook to be entertained. While I skim the page, I look for videos that will “shock and amaze me”…why? Because I want to see shit I haven’t seen before!

  • I want to be shocked
  • I guess I want to cry? (the super awesome videos or the super sad ones)
  • I want to see super human strength
  • I want to see how to make ice cream in a zip lock bag
  • I can go on and on, yes….but if you show me a pic of a dog being abused, I will unfriend you!

The problem is, we are not getting viruses from the click, but the page it goes to. Sometimes you are just stuck and can’t get out of a page, it traps you. Unfortunately the only way to get out of a virus page is to close the entire browser or click on the “ad” to get you to the next page of viruses probably.

If you think you have a virus, we can help. If you just want to learn how to close the window without clicking on the page, you need to go to your task manager and end the process
