New Outlook Not Launching or Opening
I took a call today from a client who loves New Outlook but it would not launch at all. I checked for the usual suspects like AV/VPN and those weren’t the issue.
I decided to dig deeper and when into the program files and found a small file that looked suspicious to me, not sure if it was the file or not that was not working. The file was “olk-launchevent-host.win32.bundle” and then I searched for that and found the fix below that did launch New Outlook again. I hope this works for you. olk-launchevent-host component in the New Outlook/Office architecture fails to launch due to local state corruption, bad authentication cache tokens, or a blocked background JavaScript resource. [1, 2]Clearing Local State and Cache
- Close Outlook and all related Microsoft apps (like Teams or Word) completely.
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type
olk.exe --clearLocalStateand press Enter to clear the app state.
- Reopen Outlook and check if the launch event host processes successfully.
