How do I import my old calendar in Outlook into New Outlook

If you just changed from classic Outlook to New Outlook, you might find your calendar is gone. This can happen for a few reasons. First, you most likely have IMAP setup for your email and in classic Outlook, it came with a (This Computer Only) calendar. That is a local to the computer only calendar, it is not in the cloud and doesn’t sync with the cloud. You will need to make some decisions here. If you want to do all of this yourself, then I have a YouTube video coming out soon that should be helpful. Since everyone has different calendar setups, it’s hard for me to do a video for everyone.

Decision #1 is find a calendar synching program that works with New Outlook. Microsoft Exchange, Outlook.com, Google Workspace/Gmail and iCloud are favorites.

Free? Outlook.com, Gmail and iCloud all will sync as of Nov 7, 2024

Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace have a monthly subscription

Decision #2 is not use a calendar to sync with New Outlook. There are no IMAP email accounts that offer calendar (Outside of Gmail) that I know of. This also goes for contacts.

How to print to a PDF in New Outlook

Two options:

In the inbox, click on the email you want to print to PDF. Hit the control + P on your keyboard and this will launch up print and you can chose to print to PDF or your own printer.

The other option is double click on the email you want to print to PDF, click on the 3 dots on the right top side of the window that pops up. “More Actions” and then select “Print” in the options available.

How to change the Zoom level in New Outlook

How to change the Zoom level in New Outlook

Unfortunately, the Zoom levels have changed in the New Outlook. You can go to “Settings” and then click on “Mail” and “Layout” and change the “text size and spacing” to small, medium or large. The New Outlook is more of a cloud application and there is very little you can do to change the size in the app. If you need the size larger than the “large” option, you might want to consider moving to the OWA and then you can change your browser window to be a much more larger size.

Does New Outlook Work Offline

Does New Outlook Work Offline

On Oct 19, 2024 I did some testing and I would not say it was reliable yet. In time I’m sure Microsoft will have a better offline version, I would think they have to as some people aren’t online all the time because of travel, flights/location, etc.

Few things I found:

  • I did turn off my internet and launched New Outlook. The first time, no emails would do a draft to reply. I got a white space. I could not view any emails in folders. Then I toggled internet back on, then off and it seemed to be happier and I could reply but not view some of the emails in folders. Maybe if I gave it more time it would load up more but I’m in testing mode now so I’ll update when I have more results.
  • I also found you can go back 180 days for offline use, see image below on where to change the settings
  • I also tried to send a message offline but when I went back online, they never sent. I got an error. I had to resend it again.
  • Offline should be on by default, you can click on the gears in the upper right corner and then you can see the offline settings here
