My email has been spoofed
My email has been spoofed
…is a popular search in Google for a reason, and it’s a request I get in from clients quite often. Some clicked on a link that looked real, turned out it was fake (Phishing scam) and they put in their password and now many problems are happening. Calls from colleagues asking ” Did you mean to send that email” and leaving you embarrassed that you allowed a hacker into your account. Sometimes that’s all that happens. Or the worst can happen…a full on wire transfer fraud happens. These usually are well thought out and are not happening with a click of a button. They start out that that way to get your information and then they get busy knowing more about your company, reading all of your emails, forward your emails to their email accounts, get your banking institution information, figure out how you transfer money, some create domain names very close to yours and then once ready…They go in on their mission and start stealing and they can steal big.
There are many things I do as an Outlook Expert and Office 365 consultant to help my clients when they get hacked. Unlike other websites that might give you free information, I will not offer free advice here but offer a “Before a Hack and After the Hack Package”. You really need a professional to help clean up the mess, secure your accounts, and then train you on the technical aspects of how to prevent this from happening again. And if you are a click happy person, you should consider the “before the hack” to learn more about email hacking so it doesn’t happen to you.
If you are a one person company, expect an hour of time for this. If you were the only one in your company that got hacked, I can help you but I recommend you talk to the team and setup a team training so I can help everyone learn how to secure account and prevent this from happening again.
