Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Email is too large, limit size to less than 20MB

Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following Email is too large limit size to less than 20MBYour IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Email is too large, limit size to less than 20MB

The famous IMAP issue that I can calls on occasion about, I bet you are here looking on how to fix this. In short, you need to go through each folder including the inbox…

Sort by size.

  • Find all emails with sizes larger than 10MB. Move them to a local PST file.
  • Then go find any 0KB size files, these are usually corrupted but have a large amount of data in them. (This is super important!)
  • You can use the “Search folders” option in your Outlook folders list and find files larger than 100kb too.

Then close Outlook and see if it happens again. Should be gone!

Show Notes

  • Your time is valuable, and of course, billable. Be sure to give clients a quote, but be mindful that it is only a soft quote or an estimate because work could be needed and the bill could increase. With the quote, be sure to set clear expectations and inform them that there is a cancellation fee. BE FIRM.
  • Computer repair jobs can turn into an upsell of a computer tune-up.
    • We do not do printer support during a tune-up because that is a repair and should be done either at another time with an appointment, or should be added onto the bill.
    • Set the expectations.
  • Flat rates vs. hourly rates
  • Virus removals vs. virus damage repair.
    • Set the expectation that virus removal jobs do not include repairing the damage caused by the virus. To have virus damage repair jobs done, the client will need to schedule another appointment and start a new bill.
  • For some jobs we can offer a $40 try fee. We bill them for the work we do with the intentions of “trying” to fix their problem. If we cannot fix it, we can give a referral.

Gmail calendar won’t synch with Outlook

| April 29, 2015 | 0 Comments

As a Microsoft Outlook Email Support Expert, I often get calls in about this Gmail calendar won’t synch with Outlook issue.

Since last summer, Google removed the free “Outlook synch tool” that used to be free. Now clients have to purchase an online software program to synch their Gmail calendars and contacts with their Outlook.

Usually I charge $89 to setup this program. If you want my help, please call 612-865-4475 or schedule time on my calendar.
