iCloud password not working Outlook 2016 Mac

If you’re getting the error on the right side or having issues connecting your iCloud account with Outlook 2016 on your Mac, then you have an app password issue. Directions below on how to get it connected again.

1. Log into iCloud on your browser

2. If you have 2 step authentication turned on, you will be to input a Apple ID Verification Code.

3. You will get the 6 digit code on your trusted device

4. Type in the 6 digit code and then go to the gray “General” settings button in the iCloud settings on the browser

5. On that page, click on “Manage”

6. You will be logged out.

7. Log in again (This will be the Apple site not iCloud)

8. You will be asked one more time for the Apple ID Verification Code

9. In the security area, click on “APP-SPECIFIC PASSWORDS”

10. And there you can generate a password for Outlook, name it “Outlook” and you will get a 16 digit code with spaces.

11. Copy that out, or type it by hand

12. Then on your Mac, when Outlook prompts for a password, this password does not go in the password area of the account, but the Mac password prompt that goes in the keychain. After it accepts your password, the password area for your iCloud account will be empty.

13. Should be green after that!
