How to Export Your LinkedIn Contacts

| February 28, 2017 | 0 Comments

Pretty easy now that I had to dig around and figure it out. What I also found was good historical golden nuggets. Here are the full instructions on how to export your LinkedIn contacts with the new user interface plus commentary about the “download”.

  • Click on your home tab “My Network”

  • Then under “Your Connections” click on “See all”

  • On the right you will see “Manage imported contacts”

  • Under “Your connections” you will see “Advanced actions”

  • And there you can export, aha! NOPE. Next!

  • Now you get to “download an archive”

I got my first download about 10 min after requesting. While feeling hesitant to see nothing, I have to say I liked what I got. I got about 17 files all in Excel. One includes every single conversation I’ve had with people in my inbox, This includes every invitation accepted and received and every conversation. No emails included just names, dates and the message. Now I know why I can’t “delete all” messages, they are archived and for life apparently.

I also found I had 23,000 contacts in a file called “contacts” and in “Connections” I had 7963. Not sure where those other 15,000 contacts came from, but it’s there. Also included in the download is all of your recommendation in a Excel file, so that’s cool.

There was one error, could not export to CSV. Might come back with the 2nd download. I’ll update as I find changes.
