Should I repair or uninstall Office 365?

As an Outlook Expert, I often have to do these requests for clients. Repair or uninstall? I will let you know that repairing often and usually will uninstall Office 365. Either way, so here is a list of things to have ready before you do either. Be prepared! Oh and btw…the “quick online repair” often does nothing for a repair. And I’ll let you know that before I do the “Full repair”, I tell clients they better have a long time waiting for this, it can take hours! Almost easier to just reinstall and get the fresh install.

  • Before you try either, did you do all your Office updates? Sometimes this fixes weird glitches.
  • Backup all IMAP related calendars and contacts. It’s possible they might be gone. I backup my clients data anyway but you might not know this.
  • Never delete a profile in Outlook until you have all the data backedup. OST files with calendars and contacts will be deleted if the profile is fresh from an uninstall.
  • Have your Office 365 login information ready as you will need to maybe activate or log in and download fresh.
  • 64 bit is not the best option for reinstalling in case you are wondering!
