You weren’t able to sign in because the mailbox is being moved
Today I tried to log into my online Microsoft account and got this error You weren’t able to sign in because the mailbox is being moved. You won’t be able to access it until the move is complete. Please wait and try again later
As an Outlook Expert and an Office 365 Consultant, I see errors all the time and have never seen this one before. I could send and receive email on my phone, tested at another location (not on my internet) and then I saw a yellow triangle in my Outlook. No email was coming in or out.
About an hour later, my email started working again and I could log in to the portal. I checked with my Microsoft Office 365 vendor instead of researching (yep, go right to the people who can help is a great idea) and they said, “This is actually something being done on Microsoft’s end. This is a normal procedure but does not happen often. They are currently moving/updating the mailbox to another database. Typically takes 24-48 hours to complete”
Turns out just waiting was the answer, took about an hour for me. As I said, my email still worked on my iPhone.
If your email is completely down in Outlook, online and phones, you might have other issues if you are getting that error. I would recommend calling your IT administrator and/or then Microsoft. I don’t think I would be able to help with this error.
